City of Kigali and stakeholders discuss the upcoming Jobnet

In the preparations on the 7th job net to take place on 3rd December 2019, the City of Kigali through its Kigali Employment Services Centre (KESC), organised a breakfast meeting with different stakeholders to discuss the upcoming job net event and encourage employers to participate in large number since it will be the right place to meet jobseekers with right skills.

Jobnet is an initiative designed to tackle unemployment, especially among the youth and from this year the event will take place twice a year, in December and in May 2020.

In this pre-job net breakfast meeting that took place on Thursday 14 November 2019, big and medium companies, such as hotels, Insurance companies, telecommunication companies, banks, transport companies, training providers and financial institutions and manufacturing companies were invited.

In her remarks,The Vice Mayor in Charge of Socio-Economic Affairs, Madam Umutoni Gatsinzi Nadine, thanked the employers who were present and invited them to be also present in the big day of ‘job net’ as potential employers to meet jobseekers for networking about labour affairs

“First of all, allow me to thank you for responding positively to our invitation in this breakfast meeting to prepare the job fair that will take place on 3rd December 2019. The City of Kigali has the great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 7th Job Net event and we believe that you will come with open vacancies to meet right skilled jobseekers”.

“As the event is organised by a public institution, the participation of the companies will be free of charge that is why we expect more companies to attend and meet jobseekers and exchange information about the labour market”

A part from providing jobs on the day of the event, Job Net emphasises on networking and providing information to the youths related to the job market.

Gerard Mporananayo, the CEO of Employment and Youth Empowerment Solutions (EYES Rwanda) who is among stakeholders called upon his fellow employers to work closely with youth by giving them training, coaching but also believing in them because they have capacity and skills
