The City of Kigali through it Kigali Employment Service Centre (KESC) on December 21 December 2017 concluded a training in favour of job seekers in Entrepreneurship, Storytelling for leadership and Opportunity Scouting. Those trainings started in July and ended recently in December 2017 with a ceremony during which 95 job seekers were given certificates by Ms Patricia Muhongerwa, the Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs in the City of Kigali. The event took place at KESC premises in Kimisagara on December 21, 2017
Presiding over the ceremony, the Vice Mayor in charge of Social affairs of Nyarugenge district encouraged participants to use acquired knowledge and engage in self-employment. Following are details of courses, participants and companies/institutions that facilitated those trainings:
ENTREPRENEURSHIP
From 21-25 August 2017, in partnership with Entreprenarium Foundation, 36 trainees covered different topics such as:
Business and Entrepreneurship,
Lean Startup, Business Model Canvas,
Value Proposition Canvas,
Market Analysis and Segmentation, Industry Analysis,
Competition Analysis and Competitive Advantage,
Strategic Positioning (Porter’s Six Steps),
Marketing, Simple Marketing Techniques,
Business Communication, Sales
From 21-25 September 2017, KESC also partnered with SCACO Ltd and proposed the following topics to 23 job seekers:
Innovation using available resources for business creation-Entrepreneur and Entrepreneurship this was mainly about Ideas=Creation=Innovation in enterprising businesses
STORY TELLING FOR LEADERSHIP
From 18-19 September 2017, following topics were covered in partnership with Resonate workshop:
Makes leadership approachable for all participants
Teaches the importance of stories in communication
Helps participants Identify personal values and strengths
Conclude with each participant developing an inspirational personal story (Story of Self).
OPPORTUNITY SCOUTING
From 22-29 November 2017, KESC partnered with DOT Rwanda, CESB and Akazi Kanoze Access to train 15 job seekers on Self-awareness-Career drives, motivations and choices-Field exploration and decision making
